Project: Design and build: Installation of water cooled chillers
Time scale
4 months
This project was to replace the existing water cooled chillers and add additional cooling to the centralised district cooling system.
We installed HV/LV substation and switchgear, three new water cooled chillers, pumps and the associated Pipework.
Energy Efficiency
The District cooling system was originally designed to utilise the waste heat generated by the engines to run absorption chillers. However, there are times when the engines are not in use and they have to run gas fired boilers to provide the hot water for the absorption chillers.
This method of heat generation was inefficient and the introduction of water cooled chillers utilising the existing cooling towers reduced the running costs dramatically.
